It's the middle of the week and it feels like there's no time away from the daily grind. You're feeling stress levels at an all time high, the need to just crash and zone out on the couch, and a craving for the world's largest glass of wine. It's so easy to forget about yourself during the busy work week; it seems the ritual to just get up and go, go, go takes over and it's easy to find caring for yourself back in the dust of Sunday night.
Now is the time to standup for your mid-week self: indulge, rest, organize - do what you need to do to be the best you. You deserve a little self care during your hectic work week and we're here with ideas:
When you need a night to go home and relax some stress away, is there anything as indulgent as a mid-week spa night? Light some candles, run a bath, diffuse some oils (may we suggest lavender and peppermint?), paint on a face mask, put in a hair mask, paint your nails, basic be your best you. You can make this as extravagant or simple as you have time for, but just try to tell us you won't be looking forward to it all day at work. Need a mask suggestion? We're big fans of Oway's Moisturizing, Rebuilding, and Silk'n Glow hair masks. As for face masks we're into: ilike's Fibrous Stonecrop Gel Mask, Seven Herb Mask, and Grape Stem Cell Solutions Gel Mask.
Self Care doesn't need to be superfluous. Sometimes just prepping a slightly better lunch for your tomorrow can make your day a million times better. Break out of the #saddesklunch tribe and make something that will make your mouth water. If you need some inspiration, try one of our faves: a quick, delicious, Smoky Romaine and Avocado Salad from Heather Christo; a hearty Vegan Cesar Salad from Oh She Glows; or the warm, savory, Vegetarian West African Peanut Soup.
Self care doesn't always mean lounging around. Get out of a midweek funk by organizing your life. Clean out your closet, clean out your fridge, update your planner, take time to declutter your space and feel the decluttering of your mind. Our suggestion for decluttering: diffuse some clean and refreshing essential oils - try a blend of lemon, peppermint, and lavender to make your space feel as clean as it is about to look.
Sometimes all a mid week slump needs is for you to get your blood flowing. Take a yoga class, go for a run, just get up and get movin'. If you're feeling like you don't have the energy, try some yin yoga (we're particular to this sequence from Yoga by Candice) which is mostly meditative relaxing but can totally count as "moving" after a long beginning of the week.
